ATLAS / METHODOLOGY

How Atlas evaluates websites

A technical score out of 100, supported by dated measurements, desktop and mobile captures, and recommendations you can act on.

SIX DIMENSIONS

What goes into the technical score

Performance

25%

How quickly the sampled page loads under defined mobile and desktop test conditions.

  • Three valid measurements per device profile
  • Mobile results: 70% of this dimension; desktop: 30%
  • Loading behavior and resource observations alongside the result

Search structure

20%

Whether the sampled public pages can be reached and understood consistently through their technical signals.

  • Page responses and redirects
  • Indexability and canonical URLs
  • Internal links within the analysis scope

Accessibility checks

20%

Automated checks highlight issues that can make content and controls harder to use.

  • Automated results for the sampled pages and states
  • Reported issues such as labels, contrast and alternatives
  • Manual accessibility review recorded separately

Mobile layout

15%

How the sampled interface fits a small screen, including its text, forms and interactive elements.

  • Viewport settings and content width
  • Horizontal overflow at 360 and 390 pixels
  • Text readability, target size and spacing

Web delivery

10%

How the public website and its resources are delivered to the browser.

  • HTTPS and certificate validity
  • Insecure resources on secure pages
  • Compression and caching of eligible public resources

Content semantics

10%

Whether page identity, metadata and document structure reflect the visible content.

  • Descriptive page titles and headings
  • Relevant meta descriptions
  • Declared language, landmarks and heading structure
FROM MEASUREMENTS TO A SCORE

A weighted technical result

Each dimension combines the applicable checks defined in the methodology. Once all required measurements are complete, their weighted scores produce a total out of 100, rounded to the nearest whole point.

If a required measurement is blocked, fails or is unavailable, the new overall score is not published. Available findings remain visible. A previous complete score keeps its original date, so you can distinguish it from the current analysis.

25% performance + 20% search + 20% accessibility + 15% mobile + 10% delivery + 10% semantics
READ THE WHOLE RESULT

The evidence behind the number

Capture and analysis date

The profile shows when the site was captured and which analysis produced the result. A website can change after a capture, so the date is part of the assessment.

Pages and conditions

Review the URLs, device profiles and methodology version used. Compare results taken under equivalent conditions; a changed sample or method can change the score.

Findings and priorities

Each recommendation links to an observed issue and a suggested improvement. Important failures are highlighted even when the total score is high.

A new analysis after changes

Verified website owners can request another analysis. A fresh capture records the new state and keeps the earlier result in its dated history.

SCOPE OF THE ANALYSIS

Public website observations

Atlas evaluates the pages and resources included in the public analysis. It does not access private application code, customer databases or internal business rules without a separate authorized process.

Automated accessibility checks cover part of accessibility evaluation. Laboratory performance measurements describe controlled test conditions; real-user data, when available, is shown separately. The result is a technical website score, not a customer review, a security certification or a business-reputation rating.

YOUR NEXT STEP

Turn a finding into a focused improvement

Choose the findings relevant to your visitors and business. Improve with Forge carries them into a focused analysis and an improvement plan. Atlas scoring remains independent of any purchase.
